Days 57-59 - Mother's Day and FAMILY!!

Current Position: 38° 19' 52" N 76° 27' 32" W

Saturday began rainy but cleared enough to get out a bit.  We pulled into the marina for two nights so we could fill up our water and empty our holding tank.  It also made it much easier for our Mother's Day company to get on the boat without have to dinghy them over :)  We hired a diver to come clean our "bottom".  Sea creatures like barnacles tend to like clinging to the hull and need to be cleaned off periodically.  It took him several hours but he said our "bottom" was in good shape.  He found a line wrapped around one of our propellers and removed it for us.  Whew!  That could have presented problems! We met some other Loopers next to us.  They borrowed the "loaner car" from the marina and we went into town to pick up a few groceries.  Often times marinas will have a loaner car you may borrow for a short time to go shopping or do errands.  The marina here is a little on the lean side as far as the amenities so we were quite surprised to find out they had a loaner car, and a Mercedes at that!  What we didn't know is that it is so decrepit it was questionable if it was safe or not :)  It did get us to the store and back.  We had our friends, Marshall and Judy from Let's Go over for dinner and a game of Chicken Foot (dominos).  They had never played it and we all had a great time.  Judy won and Marshall lost but he was a good sport!  I made lasagna and Judy brought a lovely fresh salad, garlic bread, and wine!  I served brownies for desert.  It was so good to visit and enjoy the company.

Sunday started out very busy.  No church within walking distance so we did chores instead.  Bob changed the oil in both engines - 3 1/2 gallons per engine.  He was a mess and his jeans will never recover, but it was successful.  So proud of him.  I cleaned the oven as the lasagna overflowed Saturday night. We also got through 5 or 6 loads of laundry.  I lost track.  We also enjoyed swapping boat life ideas with all our neighbors.  It's fun to see how others set up their boats and what little tricks they have developed to make life on the water more comfortable.

My sister, Diane arrived at 2:20 with her husband and son, then my niece and her husband arrived about 5 min. later. What a wonderful Mother's Day to have family to celebrate with.  We had a nice visit on the boat then went out to dinner.  The weather was gorgeous so every family in the area seemed to be on the Island.  We got lucky and found a restaurant that could seat all 7 of us.

Sara is covering up her darling "baby bump" - they are expecting twins in October :)

Gorgeous sunbeams as the sun gets ready to set.

It was sad to see them all leave, but we are so glad they came.  Sorry we didn't take you for a boat ride!

Monday morning was supposed to be our departure day for points north, but the wind decided to kick up again and we all decided it was best to stay put again.  Let's Go and Bob and I anchored out in the harbor again after topping off the water tanks.  We are spending the day catching up on computer work as we finally have internet coverage!!!  Tomorrow it's off to Cambridge!

I hope you all had a special Mother's Day.

Docked two nights at Calvert Marina and anchored 1 night in the harbor - Solomon's Island, MD
